Mr. Henry Samuel ‘Sam’ Hine, 87, of Willowcrest Drive, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 surrounded by family. He was born on April 15, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Walter Ray and Gertrude Sides Hine. Sam was a charter member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and actively attended while his health permitted. He had a special love for his furry, feline child, Buddy. Sam was a dedicated contractor with 50 years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Holcomb Hine and brother, Ray Hine. Surviving are his daughters, Lori Hine Gregg of Lexington, and Lisa Leonard and husband Jeff of Winston-Salem; son, Anthony ‘Tony’ Hine and wife Rebecca of Yadkinville; five grandchildren, Haley Hine Milholand and husband Ryan, George Roderick Bates and wife Leslie, Lauren Denise Lyerly and husband Luther John, Alicia Leonard and Michael Leonard; three great-grandchildren, Ella Bates, Luther John Lyerly, Jr. and Luke Henry Lyerly. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Charlie Martin officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Memorial gifts may be directed to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4507 Thomasville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. I will never forget this man, he was a great guy and a great teacher in everything he done. He and I drove a lot of nails together and had a lot of talks by the fire barrel when we were building houses together. LOVE YOU (OLD BUDDY)
