Mrs. Evelyn O’Neil Goins Stout, 93 of Thomasville, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Evelyn was born on January 4, 1925 to the late Ross Goins and Elgie Green Goins in Davidson County. She worked at Kayby Mills and was the oldest living member of Calvary United Church of Christ. She taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the choir and Hoke Myers class, active in Women’s Fellowship, and a member of Chair City Campers. Evelyn also was vital in fundraising efforts for Piedmont Crossing, helped with the Lady Auxiliary of Pilot Fire Department and loved to read books. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Stout; three brothers, Robert Goins, Jerry Goins, and Donald Goins; three sisters, Mary-Graham Hatley, Patty Bowman, and Janet Richardson. Surviving is her son, Michael Leonard and wife Debbie of Thomasville; two daughters, Liz Cranford and husband David of Thomasville, and Dawn Goins and husband Gary of Thomasville; two brothers, Ronald Goins and wife Libby of Winston Salem and Roger Goins of Asheboro; seven grandchildren, Bryan Leonard, Alisha Cranford, Scott Leonard, Kerri Smith, Nick Goins, Jennie Casselman, and Katie Mishoe; and eleven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Calvary United Church of Christ with Rev. Kelly Barefoot officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00-8:00 PM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Calvary UCC, 1410 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, NC, Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC, or Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
