Mr. Wilbur Earl Blackley, Sr. 76, of Thomasville passed away Thursday January 11, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington with his loving wife by his side. Wilbur was born March 4,1941 in Zebulon, North Carolina to the late Julius Samuel Blackley and Gladys Bunn Blackley. Wilbur was a member of Emanuel Reformed Church in Thomasville. Wilbur worked as a North Carolina Highway Patrol State Trooper for 30 years, and retired in 1991. Wilbur would faithfully attend monthly breakfast meetings of the retirees from the State Highway Patrol. He had a love for the beach and a passion for fishing. Each fall he looked forward to his friends coming down to the beach to fish with him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Julius Lawrence Blackley; four sisters, Lillian Pearce, Estelle Baker, Tillie Puryear, Florence Blackley. Surviving is his loving wife of 33 years Brenda Swicegood Blackley of the Home; one son, Will Blackley (Tammy) of Buna, Texas; one daughter Mary Maness (Joel) of Rocky Point, North Carolina; three step-children, Timothy Robertson, Tammy Sink (Jeff) ,Terri Henderson (Chuck); three sisters, Elsie Pearce Suppes, Faye Pearce, and Lovie Puryear all of Zebulon; four grandchildren, Paige Blackley, Peyton Blackey, Lexi Dodson (Andrew), and Sierra Morris; four step- grandchildren, Justin Sink (Sherri), Haley Truitt (Matthew), Olivia Henderson, Sarah Henderson; five great-grandchildren Summer, Jaden, Jackson, Abel, and Julian; three step great-grandchildren Graylin, Ryan and Taryn; brother-in-law Ronnie Swicegood (Linda) and many beloved nieces and nephews. Brenda would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff of Thomasville Medical Center ICU department for the care and concern that was given; and also the “Angel” staff of Hinkle Hospice House who showed extreme love and compassion. Brenda would like to Thank the NCSHP retired and active personnel for the calls, visits and concern; a special thank you to First Sergeant Stephen T. Harper. Brenda considers it an honor and a blessing to be apart of the NCSHP family. A funeral service will be held Sunday January 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Emanuel Reformed Church in Thomasville with Rev. Rickey Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday Evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Brenda, I am so sorry for your loss. Tommy died Jan. 11 four years ago. You are feeling the loss now. I have found that when Tommy passed I felt the loss and knew how sick he had time went on I could remember the happier days and laugh about the the good times we had for 50 years.

Brenda I am so sorry that I have just now found out about Blackley. My prayers and thoughts are with you and family. He was a good friend and co-worker. I worked at Dmv in Lexington with him for 15 years. He was faithful to NC Troopers and his co .workers Thinking about you with deep sorrow.
