Mr. Marlin Ray Lovingood, 68, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at his home. Mr. Lovingood was born on August 13, 1949 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Eulice Grant Lovingood and Geneva Payne Lovingood. He was a member of Grace Community Fellowship Full Gospel Christian Church in Lexington and worked at Modern Carving. Along with his father, he is preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Lovingood; two sisters, Margaret Lovingood and Deana Lovingood; and brother-in-law, William Thomas.
Surviving are his wife, Emma Hunt Lovingood of the home; mother, Geneva Payne Lovingood of Lexington; two daughters, Tina Lovingood Strickland of the home, and Tammy Lovingood James and husband Christopher Lee James of Lexington; three brothers, Bobby Lovingood and wife Sharon, Jerry Lovingood and wife Patty, and Danny Lovingood and wife Teresa all of Thomasville; three sisters, Imogene Thomas of Tyro, Ann Shortt and husband Alan of Thomasville, and Brenda Kirkus and husband Kenny of Lexington; sister-in-law, June Lovingood of Tyro; four grandchildren, Emily LaRae Auman, Ryan Hunter Edwards, Alex Nicole James, and Krislyn Leigh James; and two great-grandchildren, Tristan Scott Prevo and Jaxon “Bubba” Taylor Auman.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Grace Community Fellowship Full Gospel Christian Church with Rev. Glen Dusina officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday night from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the JC Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Community Church Cemetery in Trinity. In lieu of flowers, the family ask memorials be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to his wife, Mrs. Emma Hunt Lovingood of the home.
